The UAE strengthened COVID-19 limitations again on Monday to safeguard the community from spreading the virus. In addition to decreasing the validity of the Green Pass on Alhosn to 14 days, officials will again resume levying penalties on those who do not wear masks rigorously in indoor public areas.

The Al Hosn Green Pass's validity is reduced from 30 to 14 days. Except at schools and universities, which will enforce it from June 20 onwards, the ruling will take effect tomorrow, June 15.

The news comes after a 100 percent surge in cases which is less than a week across the country and an increase in hospitalization rates. Fasttrackvisa found the cause as suspected of residents breaking the mandated 10-day home isolation regulation. Officials have warned individuals that breaking the rule is a criminal violation.

While the mask requirement for outdoor locations has repeals, people must continue to wear masks indoors, a restriction that will be severely enforced, with fines of AED 3,000 for anybody caught without one.

What exactly is a Green Pass?

Green Pass is one of the emirate's proactive steps to stop the virus and its altered strains from spreading. A Green Pass on the Alhosn app to safeguard public health and safety. To visit select public areas in the Abu Dhabi emirate. Citizens, residents, and tourists are all affected.

What is the purpose of a Green Pass?

In the emirate of Abu Dhabi, you must use the green pass to visit some public places. Shopping malls, restaurants and cafés, sports and recreational facilities, health resorts, universities and academic institutions, museums and cultural centers, entertainment centers, and stores outside shopping malls are all affected by the ruling (except supermarkets and pharmacies).

Those with a grey status on the Alhosn app, which indicates an expired PCR test (PCR tests expire every 7 days for those with an official exemption from vaccination and every 14 days for those vaccinated), are not allowed to visit specific public venues.

With a negative PCR test acquired within 48 hours, unvaccinated persons can attend events, tourist attractions, and cultural places in Abu Dhabi.

So, what's the deal with Green Pass?

Malls, government offices, hotels, cafes, gyms, schools, airports, and hospitals require the Green Pass to get admission to various public locations and activities in the UAE. When you have a negative PCR test result, you can get it.

Individuals who fall into one of the following categories are eligible for the Al Hosn green pass.

1st category

Individuals that fall within this group should be able to:

To keep their green pass, they must vaccinate with a booster injection six months after receiving their second primary dose and have a negative PCR test result every 14 days.

Individuals who have had both doses of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine and a booster injection are wholly immunized. A booster shot is available to anyone who had their second immunization dosage more than 6 months ago.

2nd category

Individuals who are exempt from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine: those with a documented medical exemption and a negative PCR test result every seven days.

Those who have recovered from COVID-19 infection and have a negative PCR test result must repeat the test every 14 days.

3rd category

Non-vaccinated or partly vaccinated people fall into this group. They will be able to get a green pass on the Al Hosn app if they get a negative PCR test result within 48 hours and fill out a disclaimer form.

Recoveries of Covid-19 in the recent past

Because many healed COVID-19 patients continue to test positive for an extended period. The Al Hosn app offers two ways for users to go from red to green and attend public places as what fasttrackvisa mentions:

  • You can quarantine for 10 days after testing positive for COVID-19 until your status becomes green on day 11.
  • You will then have a 'green status' for 14 days, following which you must have a PCR test. Every 14 days to keep your 'green status' on Al Hosn.
  • If you've healed entirely within 10 days, you can take two negative PCR tests. Which will give you a 14-day 'green status' on the app.
